Description: African Male NGOUMA Ancestor Statue Figure from the FANG tribe from Gabon. Very nice statue with lots of details. Like tribal figurations in brass on the head body and belly. Eyes are decorated on the face in brass as well. A string of glass beads on the middle. The protruding navel and mouth are typical for Ngouma figures. These statues are from the northern area of the Fang territories. A place where European trade had little impact. Therefore copper and brass was rare and considered to have magical powers. Good condition with some wear and tear. Have a good look at the pictures. Very nice age related patina.
