Description: Same radio that I have on another listing, but this one has a built-in transformer inverter type high voltage supply for the transmitter. You will need 12 to 14 vdc (3.5 amps) to operate this radio. No other power required. Close to 5 watts RF output from the transmitter on 80 meters, less on 40 and 30. The rectified dc no load voltage exceeds 300 volts dc, so please the same caution you'd use with ac transformer power. Voltage this high can be LETHAL!! So this radio looks like something that fell out of the sky at Roswell, New Mexico, 1947. It is a QRP rig capable of both transmitting and receiving on the 80, 40 and 30 meter ham bands. This quirky little radio works great! I make these to order, so please allow about 10 to 12 business days for shipment once your order has been placed. Many different color options are possible, so if you want something other than that pictured please inquire. Most anything reasonable I can accommodate. The radio uses a pair of VHF dual pentode tubes. The 832 functions as a twinplex pentode regen receiver, while the 815 is the cw transmitter. Coils and QRP crystals are included in this listing for operation on the 3 bands mentioned above. The radio also comes with hi-z headphones and the wiring harness that you see in the photos. I can also make a receive only coil for the am broadcast band, as well as a coil for send/receive on the 160 meter ham band, if desired. Please inquire about charges for additional coils, which are not included in the buy it now price. You'll need a well filtered 12 to 14 volt source capable of about 3.5 amps dc for the filament and regen circuits. The regen radio works strictly off the 12 volt power source that also drives the high voltage inverter. I use a 12 volt motor cycle/golf cart type battery like the one shown (not included), but will operate from any well filtered power source of 12 to 14 volts dc, capable of delivering the current previously specified. The transmitter tank circuit employs the double parallel/series method, just like the old Paraset Spy radio. It will load into any reasonable length of wire for an antenna, with a good earth ground. The radio has a send/receive switch which transfers the antenna so that one antenna functions for both send and receive. Obviously you will need a ham radio license to put this radio on the air. A hand sketched wiring diagram will be provided, along with instructions on where to hook the antenna, power and headphones, etc. I have this listed as new, and while virtually all small parts are indeed new, you can expect that the vacuum tubes are either good used or nos, as the 832's and 815's are no longer being manufactured. Controls are main and fine tuning, antenna coupling and a regen pot for the receiver, plus PA and antenna load tuning for the transmitter. The regen pot also has a power on/off switch. I guarantee this radio will work if you hook it up properly with appropriate power supply and a good antenna. These old vhf power pentode tubes make great regen receiver/transmitter tubes.
