The combination valve will provide all the valving necessary in the system. Combination valves perform four functions...(1) Proportioning, (2) Metering, (3) Residual Pressure, and (4) System Failure Warning.Proportioning: As more force is applied to the brakes the car will begins to lean forward, less braking force is needed in the rear. This valve decreases the pressure to the rear which prevents them from locking up.Metering: Metering is used in the front disc brake portion in the disc/drum system to delay application of the front discs allowing the slower reacting drum brakes to catch up, which provides rear stability on wet surfaces that helps prevent front pad to wear.Residual Pressure: Drum Brakes require residual pressure of 10 lbs. to be held in the line. This pressure keeps the brake shoes close to the drums, giving you a more firm pedal feel.System Failure Switch:This valve has a system failure switch that will alert you when half of your braking system is not working properly. This also includes the left Side Bracket Mounting Kit, which allows you to mount this to the Left (Driver's Side) of the master cylinder. Additionally, this includes two hard lines that connect the master cylinder (with 1/2" & 9/16" ports) to the proportioning valve.
