The color is more brown than black, like the factory original, but once installed you won't see it.The factory had a heavy sprayed tar which eventually dries out & crumbles to the touch not to mention weighing a lot.We have changed this to a better moisture barrier with a thin layer of rubber.The rubber coating is heavy enough to do the job but not so much where it adds too much weight to the car.This reduces the weight by 32 lbs. when changed.So if your old divider is cracking & falling apart this is still a great way to seal the interior compartment from sound & moisture.The weight loss is also an added benefit.You can now have the same protection with only 8 lbs of weight.This is a very reasonable way to replace the original GM padding at a fraction of the cost.
