Ideal carrot variety to grow in small gardens or in 10" deep containers. This Nantes type carrot is perfect for munching or salads. They can be used whole in stir fries! Enjoy this sweet and crunchy snack straight from your garden. Prepare a light, well draining soil mix to sow your carrot seeds. A mixture of equal parts of sand and compost is an ideal growing medium for containers. You could also use regular potting mix with some added perlite to keep the soil light. Thinly sow seeds at 1/4" depth. Keep soil uniformly moist until seedlings emerge. As tops grow to about 2-4" high, thin seedlings to approximately 1" spacing. Limit the use of high Nitrogen fertilizers-this results in large tops and smaller roots. Use of high phosphorus and pottasium fertilizers is recommended. Harvest when carrots start pushing up above the soil or after 55 days.
