The label carries the signature of Michael Reagan, the grandson of President Ronald Reagan. Since introduced in 1986, the Gold and Silver Eagles are receiving an updated mid-year design in 2021. This mid-year introduction has led to a very limited supply of coins. Obverse: Adapted from Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ famed Gold Double Eagle design, which features Lady Liberty with flowing hair, a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. The Type 2 design features additional details from the original cast to enhance the design. Reverse: The new reverse (tails) design features an eagle as it approaches a landing, carrying an oak branch, as if to add it to a nest.
