About the Book:For the twelve million members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints worldwide (six million in the United States), The Book of Mormon is literally the word of God, a companion volume to the Bible that contains the everlasting gospel. With the faith now of one of the fastest-growing religions in the country, Doubleday is proud to publish this first official trade edition of The Book of Mormon by special arrangement with the Church. According to Mormon belief, The Book of Mormon was inscribed on golden plates by generations of prophets, quoted and abridged by the prophet-historian Mormon, and buried in the ground by Mormon’s son, Moroni. Fourteen centuries later, in 1823, the angel Moroni led Joseph Smith to the plates hidden in a hillside in upstate New York. Smith translated the ancient language into English through divine revelation. The Book of Mormon narrates the historical, religious, political, and military events that shaped and continue to inform the Church’s teachings. The publication of this edition offers the opportunity to explore one of the largest denominations in America today. Some Book Reviews:5/5 stars - The Golden Book in Print. The Book of Mormon as far as I'm concerned is the Word of God...it is 'Another Testament of Jesus Christ'...it tells of a remnant of one of the Prophets of the Jews...LEHI...being told to move his family away from Jerusalem as the Jews as a whole were going to be taken into captivity...Lehi leads his family into the wilderness and eventually a large ship would be built and the family would sail it to a promised land...the Americas as we know them...here the family broke into two factions...the Nephites and the Lamanites (both names after two of Lehi sons)...covering a time period from around 600BC to around 400AD of these people that inhabited an area thought to be where modern Belize is in Central America. The Nephites were to know of the coming birth of the Saviour of the World and were given signs that were to occur during their time-frame thousands of miles from Bethlehem...they also were aware that this Saviour would be put to death and three days later be resurrected from the dead...in the Third Book of Nephi it can be read about the visitation of this Saviour...JESUS CHRIST...to the then people, where upon Jesus declared that they were the people he spoke about in Jerusalem as being the 'Other Sheep'...here Jesus choose Twelve Disciples to carry the work on after he would leave. There is also a work of the Book of Ether, which recalls the journey of a group of people that left the area of the Tower of Babel and travel to the New World and also records their demise...The final two books: Book of Mormon and Book of Moroni tells us of the sad demise of a once proud people whom had witnessed the Risen Christ, whose children had received a remarkable blessing and whom had lived a remarkable period of time where Sin wasn't present and Love abounded...the finale of the Book of Moroni is the fact that as a society - the Nephites were no more and the plates were deposited in the ground for their awaited time to come forth in the Last Days...which would occur early in the nineteenth century when Moroni now a resurrected being, showed the plates to a young Joseph Smith Jnr. a few years before he was allowed to translate from them and bring about a book that many will proclaim as to being the Word of God...as well as many who will call it anything but that...As for me, I know it's truthfulness...I know it through reading, studying and praying...I can in no way do this for anyone else; only you can do that and what final decision you make is yours only to make...if this report helps you make a choice that is to read, study and pray about the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon, then I hope my effort of typing has been worth the time i've undertaken to do so and the time you've undertaken to read this...God Bless!--Martin Swift 5/5 stars - Interesting! Before this I have never read the Book of Mormon, I smoked A LOT of dope and wasnt planning on reading it but rather using it for meme purposeses on ifunny(which i did) and I actually read a little while being high and have never felt such a mix of emotions, starting with this feeling that i have never felt before then ending with intense guilt... I still have a lot of doubt but Im interested in reading more, it really does make a lot of sense though about the history of the Natives in the Americas and how they got here, anyway I like it(haven’t stopped smoking btw) --Zyon Copyright © 2018-2023 TDM Inc.
