Description: Three pieces from Reverend John J Morrissey of Illinois. 1) 1903 envelope addressed to Helen Hagan at the Illinois Theatre in Chicago on Jackson Bvld. At the time, there was a pioneering black composer named Helen Hagan active. Unclear if it is the same Helen Hagan. 2) 1903 Christmas letter addressed to Nellie, who was the wife of the Illinois Theatre manager in Chicago. 3) 1921 letter to Helen. The 1921 mentions he and the sisters are sharing confiscated moonshine, and ran into detective William Pinkerton in Hot Springs (a regular vacation site of she and her husband and the Pinkertons) and he's looking for a dog from Nellie's breeding farm. Two letters and one envelope included. All ephemera has wear commensurate to age, including, potentially: nicks, folds, smudges, rips at edges, stains, old smells, rips at folds , holes, and other imperfections.
