The genius and times of the world-honored composer, Giuseppe Verdi, come to life again on Great Performances starting Friday, June 14 at 9 pm over PBS. A six-part Great Performances encore presentation, "The Life of Verdi," stars Ronald Pickup in the title role and features an international cast in the epic production by Italian director and writer of the saga, Renato Castellani. Burt Lancaster narrates and host "The Life of Verdi," which was filmed on location in various European locales including London, Milan, Paris and Venice. Great Performances is made possible by a major grant from Exxon. Additional funding is provided by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and public television stations.
