Description: Walter George Patulski (born February 3, 1950) is a former NFL defensive end. Played at Notre Dame and the Bills. Patulski was drafted by the Bills with 1st Overall Pick of '72 NFL Draft. He's the last Notre Dame player to be drafted #1 overall. His size and speed were among the reasons he was highly touted: At 6'6" and 250 pounds, he could run the 40 in 4.9 seconds. Patulski played 4 years (1972–1975) with the Bills, & then traded to the Cardinals for a 2nd-round draft pick [they would use to draft Joe Devlin), and played one year with the St. Louis Cardinals (1977). 1978 suffered career-ending back surgery due to an injury he suffered while with the Bears. The Bills considered Patulski expendable when they acquired Sherman White [Cal] from the Bengals, Ironically he was selected 2nd overall in the 1972 draft. At Notre Dame, Patulski was converted into a defensive end. He was an All-American in 1971, won the '71 Lombardi Award. A Fighting Irish captain, he finished 9th in that year's Heisman Trophy balloting! Selected the Nation's Lineman of Year by UPI & Gridiron Magazine in 1971. $2.00 Shipping, will combine.
