Description: 1970 Holton T401 “Galaxy” professional trumpet, solid nickel construction except for the valve body which is yellow brass. This model was the Holton Galaxy for many years and then was designated the T401 in 1966 with no changes. Ultrasonic cleaned, valve ports precisely aligned using premium quiet Valentino pads. Great Courtois-style valves with excellent action, many call these valves the best on the planet. New valve springs, new water valve corks, all slides are free. Compression is good, there is a good “pop” when slides 1 through 3 are removed quickly. Everything on this horn works very well. It is gig ready! This horn is very efficient, easy blowing with an easy high register. It would make an excellent lead horn but also works very well in section work. It is a good all around trumpet that lights right up when pushed. There are some finish issues, some lacquer loss on the bell crook and second valve crook. Also signs of a bell crease having been removed, and the lacquer is scratched up all over the horn. However, since it is solid nickel, it shines up easily and is quite acceptable looking. It will look fine on stage or in a band section anywhere. Price reflects cosmetic issues. Pictures tell the story, ask any questions. Includes a used but good Bach gig bag and a Holton Galaxy mouthpiece in excellent condition. The mouthpiece alone is rare in this condition.
