The photos were selected from 8000 entries submitted by 530 newspaper and magazine photographers in 1968. The only two photos selected from Houston were made by Chronicle photographers Blair Pittman, left, and Tom Colburn, not shown. Pittman stands beside his photo of President Richard Nixon campaigning here. He also won first place for his unposed color photo of a waterfall. With him are Sam Pierson Jr., center, former NPPA president and a Chronicle photographer, and George Honeycutt, Chronicle director of photography.Photo measures 10 x 8inches.
