Perhaps the most interesting component in the bar pilot operation is the daughter boat, a 23-ft. power boat which rides cradled in the Peacock's after deck. The daughter boat is used to transfer pilots from the Peacock to an ocean vessel and back. Average launching time for the small transfer boat is 3-min. and pilots claim it can be unloaded in a full gale. It requires 3 pilots to make the transfer. Date Stamped August 25, 1968.
