Description: 1957 Martin 000-18: Very Clean, Excellent Neck Angle, Original Pickguard Vintage flat-top collectors, we have a special piece to share with you today! This 1957 Martin 000-18 is a real gem. It has a warm, nostalgic sound that feels like stepping into a time machine. It instantly transports you back to the Laurel Canyon folk scene of the 60’s. It’s opened up beautifully over the years. It’s a true story-teller of an instrument. In a sea of Martins that have had their finish nearly completely worn off, this one feels seasoned to perfection. Made with a beautiful Sitka Spruce top, Mahogany back, sides, and neck, and Brazilian Rosewood fretboard and bridge. This represents an iconic combo that produces that famous Martin sound. It’s full of complex overtones and harmonics, and a joy to play. This guitar is in fantastic condition for it’s age. The neck angle is excellent and will remain steady for years and years to come. Compared to the majority of Martins for sale from this time period, this one has clearly been exceptionally well kept. The top has just a handful of scratches and honest wear, as well as some delectable finish checking. Like many acoustics of yesteryear, it has had a Martin Crack, caused by the shrinking of the pick guard. This one has been professionally repaired, and the work is smooth and solid. There are also some scratches and buckle rash on the back, as well as one more repaired crack. The bridge has been professionally reset at some point, and the tuners have been changed, as well. All of the work is expert-quality and serves to preserve this instrument, in all of it’s glory. The instrument has been professionally setup with fresh strings set to play low and easy. Notes spring forth from this instrument with the lightest touch, and strumming with a pick produces an a sound that just feels right. The fretboard has been conditioned, and the frets have been polished. A hardshell case is included for safe storage and transportation. This instrument is ready to play and cherish for decades to come. | Serial - 157036 | Scale Length - 24.9” | Fretboard Radius - 16” | Nut Width - 1-5/8” | Bridge Spacing - 2-1/8“ | Neck Depth - .840-.990 (1st to 9th)” | Neck Profile - Soft V | Number of Frets - 20 | Weight - 3lbs 8oz | Country of Origin - USA | When you purchase from Tone House Studios, your order will be thoroughly inspected and carefully packaged to ensure that your gear arrives in a timely and safely fashion.
