Description: 1955 NASCAR Darlington Raceway Southern 500 Program/Lineup, Herb Thomas Wins 3rd. The program shows some light wear on the front and back cover. The lineup is included but also has some light wear. Overall, it is a very nice, nearly 70 year old program with minor issues. Numerous pictures were taken to assist with the condition and content of the program and lineup. The Sixth Annual Southern 500 was held at Darlington Raceway on September 5, 1955. The sold-out, standing room only crowd saw Fireball Roberts lead the field of 69 to green. Herb Thomas, driving the #92 Smokey Yunick wrenched Chevy, would win his third Southern 500 only four months after serious injuries suffered racing at Charlotte. A lap behind, in second came Jim Reed followed by Tim Flock, Gwyn Staley, and Larry Flynn. Please review the other racing items I have listed.
