Never use staples. 1934 D - right up there with the 1937 D in scarcity. In finding a home for this coin, I pulled up a sorted list of 333 coins in the "buy it now". Less than 1/3 or 1/4 of these are actually 1934 D, the rest are inaccurate listings. There's probably less than 100 pieces total. Coin has been gently cleaned, just a trace of purse slime but good embedded grime. Looks like ink was spilled on the obverse and probably precipitated the cleaning. It mostly outlines Liberty and creates an attractive contrast. The reeded edge and corners on this coin are about perfect. There are some new scratches reverse running horizontally, you can see some on the top part of the rim, suggesting this coin was recently mishandled by dragging it across a table or rubbing against other coins in a roll or a bag. Has a nice re-punched mint mark. A low-level XF. Weighs 12.4 grams, about right.
