Description: This Conde de Zborosky (Louis Zborowski) card from the 1927/1928 Amatller Automovilismo set has wear throughout but has no creases. There is a stamp on the back of the card. Numerous pictures were taken to assist with the condition and content of the card. This issue of the Amatller Automovilismo set consists of 23 cards featuring prominent drivers in Europe and the Catalonia region. Amatller is a chocolate company based in Barcelona, Spain, since 1797 and continues to operate today. They would include these cards with the purchase of their chocolate. The front of the card features the driver/riding mechanic while the back of the card has driver information written in Spanish. Louis Zborowski was born in London in 1895. He would make several Grand Prix starts and competed in the 1923 Indianapolis 500 driving a Bugatti. He started Indy in the fifth position but would finish 20th due to motor issues. He would die while driving a Mercedes in the 1924 Italian Grand Prix at Monza. Zborowski is best known for his aero-engined designed cars known as Chitty Bang Bang's. The cars and Zborowski's character inspired Ian Fleming to write the children's book Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Please review the other racing items I have listed at the eBay store, The Checkered Past.
