Description: Up for sale is the INSANELY RARE Fr 1505 1928-D B-A Block Non-Mule $2 Red Seal Legal Tender / United States Note. Extremely short crossover printing on this transition note that has the 1928-D series and macro size plate numbers on the front and back, but was printed in the B-A serial block which was almost entirely used by the 1928-C printing. There are some 1928-D Mules known from the B-A block that were printed with the 1928-C back, but they were slow to introduce the macro back plates, so much of the first half of the C-A block continued to be Mules with micro backs, with B-A block 1928-D notes with macro numbers on both sides almost unheard of. This variety just isn't out there. Don't miss your chance to acquire this unique B-A block example, it may be quite some time before another comes up for sale. In my 20+ years of collecting and selling, this is the only one I have ever had. The Standard Guide to Small Size US Currency, the definitive pricing guide for blocks and varieties, lists this note at $1,000 in VF. The note grades around VF in my opinion with great color on the overprint. Still has crispness to the paper. It does have margin splits and traces of old writing in the back margin, discounting deeply for it. But with a note this rare, can't get too picky. Could probably bring it to a professional conservator and restore it back to full $1,000 value. Please check scans and judge grade for yourself. Thanks for looking and have a great day!
