Description: This exquisite J. Hoare / Gorham American Brilliant Cut Whiskey Decanter is a stunning piece of Victorian era drinkware. The cut glass vessel is the work of J. Hoare. This piece is unsigned. It wasn't until later that J. Hoare began using a marker's mark or paper labels. The hinged metal top was made by Gorham. It is cork lined and covered in floral repousse. The metal is marked as Gorham and gives us the date 1888. The metal was once plated in sterling silver though much of it has worn off. The decanter is made of cut glass and features a thumb ring handle. It measures 5.5 inches in length, 3.25 inches in width, and 9 inches in height, weighing 2 pounds. The oval shape and American Brilliant pattern make this decanter a unique addition to any collection. This Victorian style whiskey decanter is perfect for any connoisseur or collector who appreciates the beauty and quality of antique drinkware. At the time of this posting I have one other J. Hoare made decanter in another pattern. Please check it out.
