Description: This listing is for an 1887 Morgan Dollar PCGS MS62 VAM-1A or VAM-25A Donkey Tail Variety. This one is probably one of the most attractive examples of this date in existence. For accuracy several technically finer examples do exist but many have been dipped to death or just have really weak luster as expected for this late die state die break. This one really stands out as being attractively toned with outstanding satiny luster. Olive, neon green iridescence, and gold colors add significantly to the eye appeal. Marks are minimal and the surfaces are nicer then typically encountered in this grade level. Originally this variety was classified as VAM-1A but was later reclassified as VAM-25A because research has shown this to be a late die state example of VAM-25, and thus it was classified as VAM-25A. PCGS still attributes these as VAM-1A where as NGC attributes as VAM-25A but they are the same break and same variety. Please see the pics for details. Thanks for looking!
