First edition. Volume II begins with General Grant in India, and also covers his visits to China and Japan, before returning to the US. There is a fold-out map of the world with Grant's route in red on the frontispiece, 20 full-page b/w plates, and 259 b/w in-text illustrations.Half bound dark brown leather on textured leather hardboards with gilt edging. Minor marks on the boards. Five raised bands with gilt lettering and gilt decoration on the spine. Marbled endpapers and page edges.
