Description: This listing is for one antique cookbook titled - The American Housewife. Cookbook. Parts I & II. By Miss T. S. Shute. Published by George T. Lewis and Menzies Company. 1878. This appears to be a 1st Edition. The cover, corners, edges are worn. Cover has some spotting. It appears to be splitting down the hinge when opened but appears that all pages are intact. Previous owner's name written on a couple of pages. There are some misc. papers inside the pages, some I think were used as bookmarks and others appear to be handwritten recipes. The pages are spotting, and some have darkened where newspaper clippings have been placed. There may be a few pages that have slight tears or chipping in the margins due to age. It is full of all kinds of recipes and cures for different ailments. Considering the age of this book, I would say it is in acceptable condition. If you have any questions, please feel free to message me and I will do my best to answer them. I do combine shipping, when possible. Books are mailed via Media Mail. All other items, I select 2 options - one is priority, and the other is ground advantage. Both now carry insurance up to $100. I do wrap with bubble wrap and pack with peanuts but can't be responsible on the handling once it is left at the Post Office. I do charge $1.00 shipping/handling fee to help with the cost of shipping supplies (bubble wrap, packing peanuts, padded mailers, boxes etc.). I only mail within the United States.
