Description: CDV of a Gentleman taken at the studio of Samuel Anderson, 61 Camp Street. Born in Pennsylvania, Anderson began in the photography business in New Orleans in 1856 as partners with Samuel T. Blessing. In 1864 he bought out Blessing and was associated with Austin Turner. The connection with Turner ended in 1866 and Anderson was at 61 Camp Street alone until 1868 when he became partners with J.H. Clarke. Hence the photo was taken between 1866-1868. The photo is in good condition except for foxing along the edges on both sides of the photograph. New Orleans Fine Books and Autographs specializes in rare and uncommon paper items that relate to the Southern States.
