Description: Dated 1861. Professionally appraised in 2008 for $5500 by The Appraisers Registry New England, LLC. Information available upon request. Perfect for a entry foyer or greeting table, this is a lovely piece-it is very, very old, so if one wanted to expertly-lightly refinish the top, it would be in it's glory. Made of mahogany and rosewood this table is oval in shape, the top has a gadroon edge as seen in pics, it has a leaf which is 20" wide. There is a English "key driven" closing bar, with handle crank, made by Fitter, Birmingham, England. The crank and key work fine. This table sits on 4 modified cabriole legs, with shaped "knees" and with a carved palmette. It has ball and claw feet, which had casters applied (modified). many years ago, though work fine. It has the wear of a table that was made in 1861 and has been used throughout it's lifetime. There are no large chips or gouges in the table top, and it has been oiled/cleaned frequently. 20" leaf is in great condition The table has never been refinished. The legs do NOT come off the table, easily--as the bolts are extremely old and set. It does fit through a door with expert angling. It is a heavy, all wood piece--TWO strong PEOPLE to move it. 42" wide52" long (without leaf)29" high20" leaf (72" long with leaf) Pick up in Watertown, Massachusetts by appointment.Serious inquiries please Reasonable offers entertained.
