Toning at pastedowns, endleaves browned, various degrees of toning and spotting throughout, penciled annotations at upper pastedown and front flyleaf. Contemporary penciled inscriptions (2) at upper and lower endpapers from notorious Copperhead George Hunt Pendleton (Democratic Vice-Presidential candidate in 1864 against Lincoln and Johnson) to Ohio politician George W. Holmes: "Geo. W. Holmes from Hon. Geo. H. Pendleton."
