Please read on for more information.The token is not catalogued by Mike Locke. It is an 1859 Round California Gold 1/4. It has an unlisted Liberty Head obverse with 13 stars. It has a Wreath #4a reverse. This token is not denominated and is a backdated issue. It was most likely struck in the late 19th or early 20th century. Type 4 tokens are generally attributed to the designs of Nathan Joseph. The token is smaller than a dime and the entire pin weighs 0.9 grams. Token is struck in low carat gold of about a 10K fineness. The pin section is plated in yellow gold. There is just a small bit of gold in this treasure! The token is in lovely circulated condition. It is very attractive and displays bold detail and lustrous color. Small obverse die cracks are noted. The pin section is straight and sturdy. This item is a beautiful and usable piece of jewelry.The modern black velvet presentation box is lined in cream colored faux silk. Box has good snap and closure.
