Description: 1849 The Works of Horacius Quintus Flacuss With A Life By The Rev. Henry Hart Milman Written by Owen Jones Chromolithographed pages, vellum binding, gauffered gilded edges, woodcuts, original book sleeve, prize bookplate & inscription, oh my! The pages are surrounded by decorative borders cut on wood and printed in color. There are monochromed drawings throughout and eight chromolithographed pages. Hundreds of woodcuts of statues, gems, coins, people, etc. Condition: VERY Good. There’s some foxing to pages but most are clean. The front cover has started to separate but it’s still tight and holding. The binding is strong and I can’t find any tears or marks to the interior pages. Some bookmarked pages with newspaper clippings that are still tucked into various pages. There is a prize inscription on the second page dated 1853 and a book plate (Charles Howell Foster) that seems unrelated to the inscription.
