Description: Nice Lowball 1842 o small date Seated Liberty Quarter. Normally to identify examples I look at the number of Dentils below the date, but this are worn off. Instead, I have to look at the space above the date. The ratio of the date's size to the distance it is from the base of miss Liberty is consistent with the variety. Also, the reverse mintmark is central, but to the slightest left. Only 2 reverse dies for 1842 share this trait and only one (the small date reverse die) has a rectangular shaped inner loop instead of the usual wide and circular shaped inner loop. It's a great way to affordably get an example. There are some obverse scratches. If you have any questions I'm happy to help.
