John Baskerville (1706 – 1775) was an English businessman, in areas including japanning and papier-mâché, but he is best remembered as a printer and type designer. He was concerned with everything to do with the art and craft of printing, from the design of type to the improvement of the print and paper technology of his day. He exercises a lasting influence on the typography of all nations using the Latin alphabet today.
