Description: Over 17 inches tall and weighing nearly 9 lbs., this is an antique stoneware model of the Chinese goddess Guayin on the mythical beast Luduan. It was made in Shiwan and has a sancai glaze of green, yellow and white with matte black for the goddess'es hair. This is in very good condition! There are light reflections on the figure that sometimes look like chips, but the only chip is the one to the corner of the base. It looks like a repair or a cosmetic cover-up was attempted there at one time. The name Guanyin means "one who observes the voices of the world" and she listens to and understands the worries that plague man`s existence. Because of her mercy and generosity, Guanyin is the most-loved of China`s divinities. the one that people turn to for assistance in their everyday lives. She's seated atop Luduan, a legendary auspicious creature with the body of a lion and the paws of a bear. Known as the guardian of enlightened rulers, Luduan can travel 5500 miles in a single day and speak all world languages. Measures approximately: 17.25" tall 13" long 6.25" wide Weighs about 8.75 lbs.
