Description: The Patch: This Auction is for 1 WWII Vintage 13th Airborne Division shoulder patch with a white back. This patch is in good condition. It has a very nice white backing. This patch does not glow under the UV light and is guaranteed to be authentic. The History: The 13th Airborne Division was activated on August 13th, 1943 with its headquarters at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. It embarked for the European Theater in January of 1945. The division continued to train for combat in France and was put on alert a couple of times, but never actively engaged in combat as a unit. It was scheduled to be a part of Operation Varsity, but a lack of transport aircraft kept the division out of action. One element of the 13th, the 517th Parachute Combat Team participated in four campaigns in Europe. The division returned to the United States in August of 1945 for duty in the Pacific Theater, but the Japanese surrendered and further embarkation was unnecessary.Please read my auction requirements.
